Toyota Tundra and Sequoia Upgrade Guide (2022 and Newer)

The Toyota Tundra upgrades that matter most on the current generation truck are the ones the factory almost got right: the sound system, phone charging, forward visibility, and throttle feel. This guide covers every plug and play fix we make for the 2022 and newer Tundra and the 2023 and newer Sequoia, all of them reversible and none of them requiring a single cut wire.

Short answer: For a 2022 or newer Tundra, start with the ENX-T317 DSP amplifier kit if your truck does not have JBL, or the ENA-3T3 if you want a subwoofer output across the 2018-2026 Toyota family. Add the NSV dual wireless charger, a front camera on the factory screen, and a ShiftPower SP09 for throttle response. Everything installs with factory style connectors.

Tundra sound system upgrade: DSP power without touching the head unit

The current Tundra has a big cabin and a factory system that runs out of breath long before highway speed. A Tundra sound system upgrade used to mean replacing the head unit and losing factory features. Our Encore amplifier kits take the opposite approach. They plug in between the factory head unit and the speakers, so you keep your screen, your steering wheel controls, and your warranty friendly wiring.

The ENX-T317 DSP amplifier kit is the one we install most. It fits the 2020-2026 Tundra without JBL, which covers every truck this guide is about. It is part of our Encore X family, which means it adds real DSP processing, and it ships with our in-house tune already loaded, so it sounds dialed in the moment you plug it in. If you want to fine tune, our desktop tuning software gives you full control over EQ, crossovers, and time alignment. It runs on a Windows PC over the included USB cable; there is no Mac version and no phone app, and most owners never need it.

If you want to add a Tundra subwoofer, or you drive something else in the Toyota family, look at the ENA-3T3 amplifier kit. It fits 2018-2026 Toyota and Lexus vehicles and includes a dedicated subwoofer output, so you can feed a powered sub without tapping a single factory wire. The ENA-2T3 is the same idea without the subwoofer output for owners who just want cleaner full range power. One JBL note before you buy: on JBL trucks, the ENA-3T3 subwoofer output does not track the radio volume knob, so you adjust the sub level independently. For knob synced volume, pair the ENA-2T3 with our ACS-T02 powered subwoofer controller, or add the ACS-T02 to an ENA-3T3 you already own.

Not sure which family fits your build? Our comparison article on which Beat-Sonic Encore amplifier is right for you walks through Alpha, X, and Sigma in plain language, and the full amplifiers collection lists every current kit.

One more audio note while the doors are apart: our DMS-SP302 door speaker acoustic foam kit fits the 9x8 inch front door speakers in the 2022 and newer Tundra and Sequoia. It seals the speaker to the door card for tighter midbass and less rattle, a cheap upgrade to do alongside the amp.

Dual wireless phone charging for the Tundra and Sequoia

Here is the upgrade nobody expects to love as much as they do. The NSV dual wireless charger fits the 2022 and newer Tundra and the 2023 and newer Sequoia, and it charges two phones at once in the front row. Driver and passenger both get a pad. No cables draped across the console, no arguing over the single factory pad.

The NSV dual wireless charger is one of our best sellers for a simple reason: it solves a daily annoyance with a factory look. The unit is designed for the Tundra and Sequoia console, so it drops into place and connects with OEM style plugs. A Tundra wireless charger that looks like Toyota built it in, because the design started from the Toyota interior rather than a universal template.

Sequoia owners get the same benefit. If you have been searching for a Sequoia wireless charger that does not involve velcro and a cigarette lighter adapter, this is the one we would put in our own truck.

Add a Tundra front camera to the factory screen

The hood on the current Tundra is tall. Curbs, parking blocks, and low obstacles disappear from view well before your bumper reaches them. A Tundra front camera fixes that, and you do not need to add a second screen to get it.

Our front camera setups for select 2022 and newer Toyota factory screens pair an interface module from the CS15 family with a wide angle camera. One trim note before you order: the CS15 works with the smaller factory screen trims only, not the large 14 inch display, so confirm your screen size on the product page. The interface feeds the camera image straight to the display you already have, and an anytime camera style setup lets you pull it up on demand. Creeping up to a curb, nosing into a tight garage, lining up a trail obstacle: one press and you can see what the hood is hiding.

Fitment depends on your screen and model year, so start with the camera solutions collection to match the right interface and camera to your truck. You can also browse the front cameras collection for the camera itself. Our article on why you need a front camera covers the visibility math in more detail.

Sharper throttle response with ShiftPower SP09

The Tundra's accelerator pedal is drive by wire, and Toyota tuned it conservatively. There is a noticeable pause between your foot moving and the truck responding, especially from a stop. The ShiftPower SP09 throttle response controller removes that lag.

It plugs in at the accelerator pedal connector in a few minutes, and it gives you multiple drive modes so you can dial in how aggressive the pedal feels. Sport modes for daily driving, softer modes for towing or off road crawling, and a valet style setting when someone else has the keys. ShiftPower covers over 3,000 vehicle applications, and the SP09 is the unit for the 2022 and newer Tundra and Sequoia. Read what a throttle controller is and what it does if the concept is new to you, or browse the full ShiftPower collection.

One honest note: a throttle controller does not add horsepower. It changes how quickly the truck delivers the power it already has. Most owners tell us it makes the truck feel like it lost a thousand pounds.

Toyota Tundra upgrades at a glance

Frequently asked questions

Do these amplifier kits work with the JBL system in my Tundra?

It depends on the kit. The ENX-T317 is built for the 2020-2026 Tundra without JBL, a range that covers every truck in this guide. The ENA-3T3 and ENA-2T3 integrate with both JBL and non JBL harnesses depending on the model, because the factory JBL amp limits what an aftermarket amp can tap into. Check the fitment chart on each product page, or send us your VIN and we will confirm before you order.

Does DSP tuning require a professional installer?

No. Encore X kits like the ENX-T317 ship with our in-house tune already loaded, so most owners never adjust anything. If you do want to fine tune, our desktop tuning software runs on a Windows PC over the included USB cable; it does not run on Mac, and there is no phone app. Installers use the same software, just with more practiced ears.

Is the NSV dual wireless charger really plug and play?

Yes. It is designed specifically for the 2022 and newer Tundra and 2023 and newer Sequoia console, connects with OEM style plugs, and requires no wire cutting. The install is DIY friendly with basic hand tools, and there is a full install video on our YouTube channel.

Can I add a front camera to the factory screen without going to the dealer?

Yes. Our camera interfaces display the front camera on the screen your truck came with, no dealer visit and no software unlock required. You install the interface behind the dash, mount the camera, and connect with factory style plugs. If you would rather not pull panels, our La Mirada shop can handle it.

Can I add a subwoofer without replacing the factory head unit?

Yes. The ENA-3T3 includes a subwoofer output that feeds a powered sub while the factory head unit stays in place. You keep your screen, your controls, and your factory look, and gain the low end the stock system never had. On JBL trucks, the sub level will not track the radio volume knob with the ENA-3T3 alone; for knob synced volume, pair the ENA-2T3 with the ACS-T02 powered subwoofer controller, or add the ACS-T02 to an ENA-3T3.
