2025+ Toyota 4Runner Upgrade Guide: Cameras, Audio and Throttle Response
The 2025+ Toyota 4Runner upgrades we get asked about most all share one requirement: keep the factory screen and keep the factory look. Good news, because that is exactly how we build. This guide covers the front camera setup we install more than anything else on the new 4Runner, plus the plug and play amplifier and throttle response options that round out the truck.
A 4Runner front camera on the 2025 factory screen
Sit in a new 4Runner and look forward. The hood line is high and long, and everything within several feet of the front bumper simply does not exist from the driver seat. Curbs, parking blocks, rocks on a trail, a kid's bike in the driveway. This is why a 4Runner front camera is the number one 4Runner upgrade we install at our shop, ahead of anything audio related.
The setup pairs our BCAM13 camera with the CS15 interface module. The CS15 feeds the camera image to the factory screen on select 2022 and newer Toyota displays, so there is no added monitor, no suction cup screen, and no dealer involvement. The kit also includes the harness that powers the camera, so there is no separate wire run to the fuse box. It works as an anytime camera style setup: pull up the front view on demand while you creep up to a curb or crest an obstacle, then go back to your normal display.
We documented the whole job on a customer truck. Read the complete front camera install guide on a 2025 4Runner to see the camera placement, the interface location, and every panel that comes off along the way. When you are ready to order, both pieces are in our front cameras collection, and the broader camera solutions collection covers interfaces for other Toyota and Lexus models.
The camera itself uses a wide angle fisheye lens, so one glance shows you the full width of the nose plus a good margin on each side. On a truck marketed for going places without pavement, seeing the terrain directly in front of your tires is not a luxury.
4Runner speaker upgrade support: amplifiers that keep the head unit
A 4Runner speaker upgrade usually fails at the same place: the factory head unit sends a weak, processed signal, so new speakers alone never sound like the box promised. The fix is amplification, and our Encore Alpha kits add it without replacing the head unit or cutting a wire.
The ENA-3T3 amplifier kit covers 2018-2026 Toyota and Lexus vehicles and includes a dedicated subwoofer output, which is the path to real low end in a cabin this large. The ENA-2T3 is the same plug and play platform without the subwoofer output for owners who want cleaner power and nothing else. Both kits connect with OEM style plugs between the head unit and the speakers. The CS15 interface and an Encore amp install behind the factory radio together without conflict, so doing the camera and the amp in one session is common.
While the door panels are off for any speaker or amp work, our DMS-SP302 door speaker acoustic foam kit fits the 2025 4Runner's 9x8 inch front door speakers. The foam ring seals the speaker to the door card, which tightens the midbass and keeps door rattle down for very little money.
Fitment across the Toyota family depends on your model year and factory audio package, so confirm your 4Runner on each product page before ordering. If you are weighing a 4Runner amplifier against a stack of new speakers, start with our article on car amplifier benefits. Power first, speakers second is the order that actually works. The full lineup lives in the amplifiers collection.
ShiftPower SP09: fix the lazy pedal
Toyota tunes the 4Runner's drive by wire throttle for smoothness, which reads as hesitation when you actually want to move. A 4Runner throttle controller changes the response curve, and the ShiftPower SP09 is the unit built for the 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, and more.
It plugs in at the accelerator pedal connector, installs in minutes, and offers multiple drive modes. Sharper settings for daily driving and passing, softer settings for towing, rock crawling, or sand, where a gentle pedal is a feature rather than a flaw. ShiftPower covers over 3,000 vehicle applications, and the whole range is in our ShiftPower collection.
No horsepower is added and nothing in the engine is modified. The SP09 changes when the power arrives, not how much of it there is, and it unplugs in seconds if you ever want the truck back to stock.
Own an older 4Runner? We have a guide for yours too
This page covers the 2025 and newer 4Runner. Earlier trucks differ by screen type and audio package, so we wrote separate guides: the 2020-2024 4Runner upgrade guide and the 2014-2019 4Runner upgrade guide.
Start with the parts finder on the Beat-Sonic homepage. Enter your year and model and it returns only what actually fits your truck. For camera options on earlier screens, browse the camera solutions collection and check the year ranges on each interface. If nothing matches, contact us before buying anything. A five minute email beats a return label.

Frequently asked questions
Does the front camera turn on automatically at low speed?
Yes, if you want it to. The CS15 gives you both options: on demand viewing with the switch whenever you want the front view, and an automatic low speed mode that shows the front camera under roughly 10 mph. The screen returns to normal when you are done, and shifting into reverse always shows the factory backup camera.
Will the camera work with my 4Runner's factory screen?
The CS15 interface supports select 2022 and newer Toyota screens, including the 2025 4Runner display. It shows the image on the screen your truck already has, with no added monitor. If your 4Runner is older or you are unsure about your screen, run your year through the parts finder on our homepage or send us your VIN and we will confirm.
How hard is the camera install for a DIYer?
It is a moderate DIY job: panel removal, routing the camera cable from the nose to the dash, and connecting the interface with factory style plugs. No wires are cut. Our written 2025 4Runner install guide and the matching YouTube video show every step. If you would rather skip it, our La Mirada shop installs these routinely.
Do the amplifier kits work with the factory head unit?
Yes, that is the entire design. The ENA-3T3 and ENA-2T3 plug in between the factory head unit and the speakers, so you keep your screen, steering wheel controls, and factory features while gaining clean amplified power. Nothing is replaced and nothing is spliced.
Can I add a subwoofer to a 4Runner without changing the stereo?
Yes. The ENA-3T3 includes a dedicated subwoofer output that feeds a powered sub while the factory stereo stays untouched. Confirm your model year on the ENA-3T3 product page, pick a compact powered sub, and you get real bass with a stock looking cabin.
