Toyota Camry Speaker Rattle Fix: Foam Kits for All Four Doors

Toyota Camry speaker rattle usually is not the speaker's fault. Buzzing, thin bass and a flat midrange tend to come from the door around it, and on a Camry you can fix all four doors with two adhesive-backed foam kits and a set of trim tools. The tricky part is that the front and rear doors use different speaker sizes, so you need a different kit for each pair.

Here is the split for the 2025 and 2026 Toyota Camry, and it is what our team installed in this video: the DMS-SP302 acoustic foam kit on the front doors (built for 9 x 8 inch speakers) and the DMS-SP301 acoustic foam kit on the rear doors (built for 6.5 inch speakers, the size of the Camry's rear speakers). Each kit treats two doors, so a full Camry takes one of each. No drilling, no cutting, and both install the same way.

Why Camry Door Speakers Rattle and Sound Thin

A car door is basically a hollow metal box. When the speaker cone pushes forward, it also pushes sound backward into that box. The rear wave bounces around inside the door, leaks back out through the speaker opening and partly cancels the sound coming from the front of the cone. Meanwhile the door skin and inner panel vibrate near the speaker, which adds buzz and resonance on top.

The result is easy to hear: bass that should be there but is not, vocals that sound boxy, and a rattle that gets worse as you turn it up. Swapping speakers does not fix any of that, because the new speaker goes into the same hollow box. We cover that decision in more depth in speakers or amplifier, which upgrade comes first.

Which Kit Goes in Which Camry Door

Both kits are matched by speaker size, not by vehicle. That is the one detail to get right before you order.

• Front doors: DMS-SP302. Made for 9 x 8 inch door speakers. The box has 2 acoustic outer foam rings, 2 foam support strips, 2 acoustic inner pads, 2 vibration control pads (12cm x 12cm each) and a roller applicator.
• Rear doors: DMS-SP301. Made for 6.5 inch speakers, the size of the Camry's rear speakers. The box has 2 acoustic outer foam rings, 2 acoustic inner pads, 2 vibration-damping pads (12cm x 12cm each) and a roller applicator.

On the 2025 and 2026 Camry, the front doors use 9 x 8 inch speakers and the rear doors use 6.5 inch speakers, and both product pages now list the Camry for those years. Driving an older Camry? How the Foam Kits Work

The vibration control pad

This goes on the inside of the door panel, behind the speaker opening. It damps the panel so it stops ringing along with the music.

The acoustic inner pad

Sticks directly onto the vibration pad, behind the speaker. It soaks up the sound bouncing around inside the door so less of it leaks back out.

The outer foam ring

Seals the gap between the speaker and the door trim. Sound that used to escape into the door cavity gets pushed into the cabin instead. On the DMS-SP302, a foam support strip goes around the speaker frame first and the ring sticks to it.

Installing the Kits on All Four Doors

The process is the same for the front and rear doors. Only the trim removal differs.

1. Remove the door trim and the factory speaker.
2. Apply the vibration control pad to the inside of the door panel behind the speaker opening. Use the roller to press it on evenly, without excessive force.
3. Attach the acoustic inner pad directly onto the vibration control pad.
4. Front doors only: stick the foam support strip around the outer edge of the speaker frame, starting and ending on either side of the connector.
5. Reinstall the speaker.
6. Fit the acoustic foam ring around the speaker frame.
7. Check the ring does not touch the speaker cone or surround. Contact here causes its own buzz.
8. Reattach the door trim.

Watch the rear door clips

The video flags the rear door panel as the tricky one, with a clip that takes more care during removal, and includes a tip for when a rear door's metal clip pops out. Before you press any panel back on, check that every clip is seated where it belongs. A loose clip is one of the easiest ways to create a brand new rattle right after fixing the old one.

Everything is adhesive-backed and nothing is permanent, and the kits work with factory or aftermarket speakers of the right size.
