2024+ Toyota Land Cruiser Upgrade Guide
The 2024+ Toyota Land Cruiser upgrades worth doing are not the ones you might expect. The Land Cruiser 250 arrived with CarPlay built in, so the screen is handled. What the truck actually needs is sound that matches the badge, a way to see past a hood that hides everything below headlight height, and a throttle that responds the way you drive. Every fix on this page plugs into factory connectors, cuts nothing, and comes back out if the truck ever returns to stock.
Better audio for the 2024+ Toyota Land Cruiser 250
The factory system in the Land Cruiser 250 is polite around town and thin at highway speed. On all terrain tires at 70 mph the midrange gets buried, you turn it up, and louder just means harsher. The bottleneck is not the speakers so much as the low powered signal feeding them, which is exactly the gap a plug and play amplifier closes.
Our Encore Alpha kits for the 2018-2026 Toyota and Lexus family are the starting point. The ENA-3T3 amplifier kit includes a dedicated subwoofer output, so you can feed a powered sub without tapping factory wiring. The ENA-2T3 is the same plug and play approach without the subwoofer output, for owners who just want cleaner full range power. Both work with JBL and non JBL systems. Both install between the factory head unit and the speakers with OEM style connectors, so your screen, CarPlay, and controls stay put. We have done this exact upgrade on a Land Cruiser 1958 and documented it on video, so this is not a theoretical fit; still, the 250 family is new, so confirm your exact year and trim on the product page before ordering, or send us your VIN and we will check it for you.
After the install, the difference shows up as separation: vocals sit above the instruments instead of blending into them, and freeway volume stops being a compromise. What the kit does not do also matters. The Encore Alpha series has no DSP and no app tuning; it is straightforward clean amplification of the factory signal, and it needs a working factory system to amplify. If you are deciding between the two kits, our guide to which Beat-Sonic Encore amplifier is right for you walks through the differences, and the amplifiers collection shows every current kit. Amplifier kits carry a 2 year warranty.
Planning for a subwoofer
If low end is part of the goal, the right setup depends on one question: does your Land Cruiser have the JBL system? A quick definition first, since it matters below. A powered subwoofer, also called an active subwoofer, is one with its own built in amplifier, and that is the kind the ENA-3T3 outputs are designed to feed. If you are not adding a sub at all, you can skip this whole section; the ENA-2T3 alone boosts the entire factory system, factory JBL subwoofer included, because the factory sub runs through the same harness as the rest of the speakers.
Here is why JBL changes the plan. On a JBL equipped truck, the head unit does not control loudness itself. It sends its signal downstream to the factory JBL amplifier, and that amplifier is where the volume knob actually does its work. Any signal tapped ahead of that amplifier is therefore a fixed level feed: it plays at the same strength whether the knob sits at five, at thirty, or at zero. Our Alpha kits connect at exactly that point in the chain on JBL models, between the head unit and the factory amplifier, which is how they integrate so cleanly. It also means the subwoofer RCA outputs on the ENA-3T3 carry that same fixed level signal.
The practical result: feed a powered sub from the ENA-3T3 outputs on a JBL truck and the sub holds one level no matter where the factory knob sits. Turn the music down to zero and the bass keeps playing; turn the music up and the sub does not come up with it. Nothing is broken. The sub is simply connected upstream of the volume control, so you balance it with the bass knob on its own built in amplifier and reset that balance when your listening level changes. Our article on the subwoofer that stays on at volume 0 walks through exactly this symptom. Some owners live with a bass knob happily. Plenty do not.
The ACS-T02 powered subwoofer controller exists for the owners who do not. Instead of tapping the fixed level side of the chain, it takes its feed from the volume controlled side of the JBL system, so its RCA outputs rise and fall with the factory knob and the steering wheel volume controls. Turn the music down and the bass follows it down; turn it up and the sub scales with everything else. The added sub finally behaves like it came from the factory, with no second knob to manage. The same logic covers some non JBL Land Cruiser configurations that still use a factory external amplifier sending a fixed level signal; the ACS-T02 is the fix there too.
That leaves three practical paths on a JBL truck. If knob synced bass matters to you, pair the ENA-2T3 with the ACS-T02: the amp powers the factory speakers and the ACS-T02 provides the volume tracking feed for the added sub. If budget leads, run the ENA-3T3 alone and set the sub level independently at its bass knob; the bass is all there, it just does not follow the factory volume. And if you already own an ENA amp and later decide you want knob control, add an ACS-T02 to the amp you have rather than replacing anything. One caution before you order: the ENA-2T3 and ENA-3T3 do not use the same harness, so switching models later is not a simple plug over. Settle the subwoofer question first, or tell us your trim and plans and we will confirm the right combination.
The install side is simpler than the signal side. A powered sub needs RCA cables from the amp or ACS-T02 outputs and a remote wire, and the ENA kits have a dedicated remote wire output so the sub wakes and sleeps with the truck. For an under seat sub, our EAZ-C02 power seat harness pulls clean power and ground from the power seat connector, which keeps you out of the firewall entirely, a tidy solution on a hybrid platform where nobody wants to improvise power runs.
A front camera on the factory screen
The Land Cruiser 250 hood is tall and flat, which looks right and hides everything below it. Curbs, parking blocks, a trail ledge, a kid's bike in the driveway: all of it disappears before your bumper gets there. Owners compensate by stopping short and guessing, and the front valance eventually keeps score. A front camera on the factory screen returns that view without adding a second display to the dash.
The setup we install pairs the CS15 front camera interface with the BCAM13 wide angle front camera. The CS15 feeds the camera image to the display the truck came with and powers the camera through its included harness, so there is no separate wiring run to the fuse box. You get two ways to use it: press the included selector to pull up the front view on demand, or let the interface bring the camera up automatically at low parking lot speeds and clear it once you are moving. Reverse always shows your factory backup camera, exactly as before.
One important note: the CS15 works with the smaller factory screen trims only, so confirm your screen on the product page before you order, or send us your VIN and a photo of the dash and we will confirm. And keep expectations honest. The camera shows you a wide fisheye picture of everything the hood hides; it does not beep, measure distance, or record footage. We documented the whole job in our CS15 front camera install on a Toyota Land Cruiser, from mounting the camera to the first curb it saved. The BCAM11B camera is interchangeable with the BCAM13 if stock shifts, and our article on why you need a front camera explains the visibility gap in numbers. The rest of our camera hardware lives in the camera solutions collection.
Throttle response tuned to how you drive
The Land Cruiser's pedal mapping is tuned for smooth, deliberate starts, which reads as lag when you just want the truck to move. Rolling into a gap in traffic, you press, wait a beat, then get more than you asked for. A ShiftPower throttle response controller plugs in at the accelerator pedal connector and gives you multiple drive modes: sharper response for the daily commute, softer mapping for technical off road work where a twitchy pedal is the enemy, and a valet style setting when someone else drives. The install takes minutes, and unplugging it returns the pedal to stock just as fast.
We will not oversell it. ShiftPower does not add engine power; it changes how quickly the truck delivers what it already has. In eco mode it softens the pedal mapping, which helps many drivers improve fuel economy. Each unit carries a 3 year warranty, and if you ever want the factory pedal feel back, unplugging it returns the truck to stock. For the 2024+ Land Cruiser, the unit is the ShiftPower SP09, the same controller we fit on other current Toyota trucks. The rest of the line lives in our ShiftPower collection if there is another vehicle in the driveway.
Sound deadening for a truck that works outdoors
All terrain tires, roof loads, and a boxy body all make noise, and that noise is the ceiling on every audio upgrade. Sound deadening material adds mass and damping to door skins and body panels so they stop resonating along with the road. The cabin gets calmer at speed, conversation gets easier, and the amplifier upgrade above sounds noticeably better because the quiet parts of a song are no longer buried under drone. Browse the kits in our sound deadening collection and confirm the right application for the 250 on the product page or with our team. If you are booking an amplifier install with us, pair the two; the doors come open once and both jobs finish in the same visit. We install everything we sell, including our sound deadening.

Where to start: what we see in the shop
For a Land Cruiser 250, the order usually goes amplifier first if the truck is a road tripper, camera first if it lives in tight parking or sees trails. The ShiftPower is the easy add either way; it takes minutes at the pedal and does not touch the dash at all. Sound deadening slots in whenever the doors are already coming open.
The scheduling advice we give every 250 owner: book the amplifier and the camera together. Both connect behind the factory radio, so one appointment covers both, the dash comes apart once, and the truck usually goes home the same day as the appointment. If you would rather do it in the garage, nearly every product we sell has an install video on our YouTube channel, so you can preview the whole job before a single trim tool comes out.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Land Cruiser 250 need a new head unit for better sound?
No. Our ENA series plug and play amplifier kits install between the factory head unit and the speakers, so the screen, CarPlay, and controls all stay factory. The ENA-3T3 adds a subwoofer output if you want real low end. Confirm your exact year and trim on the product page or send us your VIN.
Will an added subwoofer follow my factory volume knob?
On a JBL truck, not by itself. The volume control on a JBL system lives in the factory JBL amplifier, and the ENA-3T3 subwoofer outputs sit ahead of that amplifier, so a powered sub plays at one fixed level and you set it with the bass knob on the sub. If you want the sub to rise and fall with the factory knob, pair the ENA-2T3 with the ACS-T02 powered subwoofer controller, which feeds the sub from the volume controlled side of the system, or add an ACS-T02 to an ENA amp you already own. Tell us your trim and we will confirm the right combination.
Does the CS15 front camera interface fit every Land Cruiser 250?
No, and we would rather say so up front. The CS15 works with the smaller factory screen trims only, so check the fitment notes on the product page before ordering. If your screen is not listed, contact us and we will confirm what works for your truck.
Does ShiftPower add horsepower?
No. ShiftPower changes how quickly the truck delivers the power it already has, with multiple drive modes from sharper to softer. In eco mode it softens the pedal mapping, which helps many drivers improve fuel economy. For the 2024+ Land Cruiser, the right unit is the ShiftPower SP09, it carries a 3 year warranty, and unplugging it returns the pedal to stock.
Can I do these installs myself?
Most owners can. Every kit uses OEM style connectors and basic hand tools, and nearly every product we sell has an install video on our YouTube channel, including the amplifier upgrade we filmed on a Land Cruiser 1958. If you would rather hand it off, book an appointment at our La Mirada, CA shop; most installs are done the same day as the appointment.
