Lexus GX550 Audio Upgrade: Beat-Sonic Encore Sigma Plug-and-Play Amplifier

Lexus GX550 Audio Upgrade: Beat-Sonic Encore Sigma Plug-and-Play Amplifier Install

The 2024 and 2025 Lexus GX550 is a capable, well-equipped SUV, but the factory audio system leaves room for improvement in clarity, dynamic range, and overall output. The Beat-Sonic Encore Sigma amplifier for the Lexus GX550 is an 8-channel plug-and-play upgrade that connects directly to the factory amplifier harness under the driver's seat — no dash disassembly, no wire cutting, no modifications to the factory system. The only tool required is a T50 Torx socket.

In this install, our team fits the Encore Sigma into a lifted 2025 Lexus GX550 with King Shocks and raised suspension. The audio system was completely stock. Watch the full install below.

What Is the Beat-Sonic Encore Sigma for the Lexus GX550

The Encore Sigma (ENS-L201) is an 8-channel plug-and-play amplifier kit engineered specifically for the Lexus GX550. It intercepts the signal at the factory amplifier location under the driver's seat and re-amplifies all channels with clean, dedicated external power. The factory head unit, factory speakers, and all OEM electronics stay in place and function normally. The Encore Sigma simply replaces the factory amplifier's output stage with a higher-quality one.

The kit includes RCA outputs for subwoofer and system expansion. If the owner later wants to add a powered subwoofer or a secondary amplifier, the signal path is already there without revisiting the install. The gain controls for all four channel pairs are accessible on the amplifier body and adjustable with a flathead screwdriver or fingernail.

Where Is the Factory Amplifier on the Lexus GX550

The factory amplifier on the Lexus GX550 is located under the driver's seat. Accessing it requires removing the seat entirely, which is straightforward on this platform — four T50 Torx bolts, one in each corner of the seat base. Remove the two front bolts, slide the seat forward, then remove the two rear bolts. The seat lifts free and can be tilted back carefully using a thick blanket over the center console and steering wheel area to protect the interior from the seat's metal brackets and hardware.

With the seat out of the way and the footwell panel removed — it unclips by pulling straight out and has one footwell light connector to disconnect — the carpet can be folded back to expose the factory amplifier connector. It's located deep under the dash cavity near the center console side.

Connecting the Encore Sigma Harness

The factory amplifier connector on the GX550 has a locking tab on the side closest to the center console. To release it, reach in and press the locking tab outward before pulling the connector toward the front of the vehicle. Wiggling the connector back and forth while pulling helps break the seal. Once out, inspect the pins on the factory connector and the Encore Sigma harness before connecting — if any pins are bent or misaligned, straighten them carefully with a small flathead screwdriver before proceeding. Forcing a misaligned connector can cause intermittent signal loss or permanent damage to the pins.

The Encore Sigma harness has two sides: one plugs into the factory amplifier port in the car, and the other accepts the factory connector that was just removed. Both connections lock with a firm click. Route the three pigtail connectors from the harness through the carpet hole before making the connections — these are what the amplifier unit itself plugs into and they need to be accessible from above the carpet once the seat goes back down.

The auto-sense input on the Encore Sigma must be set to the Speaker position for the GX550, not ACC. The GX550 uses a speaker-level signal at the factory amp, so the ACC setting will not trigger the amplifier correctly. Confirm this setting before finalizing the install.

Mounting the Encore Sigma Under the Driver's Seat

The amplifier unit mounts to the underside of the driver's seat frame using zip ties looped through the factory cloth hanger loops under the seat. Remove the fabric covering from the seat bottom to expose these loops, then position the amplifier and run zip ties through the loops and around the amplifier body. The amplifier sits flush against the seat frame and does not contact the floor when the seat is reinstalled. Use thick zip ties and combine two in series if a single zip tie doesn't reach — the amplifier needs to be held firmly to prevent movement during off-road use.

Plug the three Encore Sigma connectors into the amplifier body before zip-tying it in place: the four-pin connector with two black and two yellow wires, the remote wire and high-level input connector on the right side under the Sigma logo, and the large main connector in the center. All three click into place. Tuck all excess wire under the factory carpet before reinstalling the seat.

Gain Setting for the Lexus GX550

The Encore Sigma ships with the gain set at the 12 o'clock position — 50 percent. This is the recommended starting point and works well for the majority of listening preferences and music types. For a more aggressive output level, the gain can be increased to the 2 o'clock position, which represents approximately 75 percent. Adjust after installation by playing music at your typical maximum listening volume and tuning for the cleanest output at that level. All four channel pair gain dials are individually adjustable to balance front and rear output independently.

Reinstalling the Driver's Seat on the Lexus GX550

When lowering the seat back into position, the seat base has small alignment prongs that correspond to secondary holes in the floor brackets — these help locate the seat correctly before the T50 bolts go in. Align the prongs to the holes and hand-start one front bolt to hold position before sliding the seat forward to access the rear bolt holes. Tighten all four T50 bolts once all four are started. Reinstall the footwell panel by aligning the clips and pressing firmly, then reconnect the footwell light connector until it clicks. The carpet folds back into its factory position over the entire install area.

Lexus GX550 Audio Upgrade Without Mark Levinson

The Encore Sigma is designed for the Lexus GX550 without the Mark Levinson premium audio package. Mark Levinson-equipped GX550s use a different amplifier topology and are not compatible with this kit. For GX550 owners with the standard factory audio, the Encore Sigma delivers an immediately audible improvement in clarity, dynamic range, and output volume without requiring any disassembly beyond the driver's seat.

For other Lexus models, the Beat-Sonic Encore amplifier lineup covers a range of Toyota and Lexus vehicles with plug-and-play installation. If you have questions about compatibility with your specific GX550 trim or build year, leave a comment on the video or reach out at info@beatsonicusa.com.
