ENA-3S1 Amplifier Install: 2022-2026 Subaru WRX
A plug and play amplifier install on a 2022-2026 Subaru WRX is the fastest, cheapest, highest impact audio upgrade you can make before spending a dollar on new speakers. In this install walkthrough, we drop the Beat-Sonic ENA-3S1 plug and play amplifier into a 2022-2026 WRX and show exactly how a bolt-on amp turns a weak factory sound system into a loud, clean, full-bodied audio experience. No cutting. No splicing. No aftermarket head unit. Just more power, more clarity, and a higher max volume through the speakers you already own.
Why the 2022-2026 Subaru WRX Factory Audio Leaves Performance on the Table
The 2022-2026 Subaru WRX is a genuine performance car. The stock audio system is not. Factory head units in the WRX send limited wattage to the speakers, which caps dynamic range, compresses bass, and leaves vocals sounding thin once you crank the volume past halfway. The WRX cabin also fights against audio with road noise, exhaust drone, and a flat-four soundtrack that competes with whatever is playing through the speakers. A dedicated plug and play amplifier fixes all of it by adding raw power without changing a single factory component.
What the ENA-3S1 Plug and Play Amplifier Does
The ENA-3S1 is part of our Encore Series amplifier lineup, built specifically for drivers who want a massive audio upgrade without the cost, complexity, or permanence of a full aftermarket rebuild. The amp taps directly into the factory wiring using a vehicle-specific harness, amplifies the signal with clean power, and sends it back to the existing factory speakers. The result is more volume, more clarity, more bass weight, and a noticeable jump in overall sound quality.
Subwoofer Ready Out of the Box
The ENA-3S1 harness includes a separate remote out wire designed for adding an aftermarket amplifier or subwoofer down the line. The amp itself also has additional RCA outputs. If you ever want to expand the system with a sub, the groundwork is already there. No need to rewire anything later.
Important Note on the VAZ-A02K Option Harness
The VAZ-A02K Option Harness is only required for 2022-2026 WRX models without the Harman Kardon factory audio system. If your WRX came with Harman Kardon, the standard ENA-3S1 kit is all you need. If you have the base audio system, email the Beat-Sonic team at info@beatsonicusa.com to get the VAZ-A02K harness paired with your order.
Step by Step ENA-3S1 Install on the 2023 Subaru WRX
Here is how the install breaks down. Most DIY installers with basic hand tools can complete the job in under two hours.
Step 1: Remove Factory Panels and Trim
Start by carefully prying off the dash trim panel that surrounds the WRX factory radio. Work slowly along the edges to avoid breaking clips. Once the trim is free, set it aside on a soft surface.
Step 2: Remove the Factory Radio
Back out the factory screws holding the radio in place and slide the unit forward. Disconnect the factory harness and antenna lead from the back of the radio and set the head unit aside.
Step 3: Disconnect the Factory Connectors and Install the VAZ-A02K If Needed
If your WRX is non-Harman Kardon, plug the VAZ-A02K Option Harness inline at this stage. If you have Harman Kardon, skip straight to the next step. This is the only point in the install where the two configurations differ.
Step 4: Connect the ENA-3S1 Amplifier
Plug one side of the ENA-3S1 harness into the back of the factory radio. Plug the other side into the vehicle factory harness. The amplifier module connects in between. This is a fully plug and play connection. No wire cutting, no splicing, no T-taps.
Step 5: Reinstall the Radio and Dial In Gain Settings
Slide the radio back into the dash, but before buttoning everything up, dial in the amplifier gain settings to match your preferred listening level. The ENA-3S1 gives you control over output level so you can tune the amp to your factory head unit volume curve.
Step 6: Mount the Amplifier and Clean Up
Tuck the amplifier module behind the dash or under the passenger side where it stays out of sight and away from heat. Route any excess harness neatly, reinstall the trim panels, and clean up the work area. The install leaves zero visible evidence from the outside of the car.
Step 7: Run a Sound Test
Power up the vehicle and run a side by side sound test. Play a familiar track at a normal volume first, then crank it up. The difference is immediate. Bass carries more weight, mids have body, highs have clarity, and max volume goes up without the factory distortion kicking in.
Before and After: The Real Audio Difference
Before the ENA-3S1 goes in, the WRX factory system sounds flat, compressed, and anemic at higher volumes. After the amp is installed, the same tracks hit with weight and dimension. Vocals sit forward in the mix, drums have impact, and the whole cabin feels like the audio finally matches the energy of the car. This is the kind of result that usually requires a full system rebuild, delivered by a single plug and play module.
